Unfortunately *systemd is very much now a Debian problem* going
forward; I'm doing what I can about that, but just the same, I do see
it as forgone conclusion and therefore a lost cause and I'm not at all
happy about that.

Not forced to *use* systemd now.... a natural continuation of the
current trend will mean that you will be forced to use systemd at some
stage if not now, and probably soonish.
