Remember the DDs are users too. Have a read through the threads in the debian-devel list regarding systemd, and you will see that a lot of the concerns have been discussed to death. I think this goes back further than just a few months, and because the "discussion" wasn't getting anywhere it was put to the technical committee --- that's how I read it anywhow. It really is pointless discussing them all again here on this list.
