I would expect KDE to still have a button on the log-in screen where you can 
choose your session.  Just choose KDE, login and say yes when it asks if you 
want that as default.

I did not answer sooner, because I am a Deserter.  A Refusnik.  I only saw KDE 
4 briefly, before running to TDE (KDE 3's descendant).  So I am definitely 
out of date.  TDE is still as I describe, but KDE 4 may not be.

Still, if I am wrong someone will be sure to tell me so, rapidly.  So one way 
or another, you will get your answer. ;-)
