From what you said and other's advice I would just say you don't need to be a
windows or Linux expert you just need to know a basic truth about installing
Debian
by using their latest installer:

Never install Debian from windows boot the Debian installer instead, whilst
having
enough free space on your HD before attempting to add Debian to the same HD as
windows.

The Debian installer should be the latest installer iso. Download it from:

http://www.debian.org/distrib/

After you've copied the .iso to a CD, boot it up. It is not going to screw up
windows; but, you must have that free space. After the install and you've
added the
grub2 boot manager, you'll have a duel boot system. If you select windows from
the
grub menu, I suspect windows will once again boot up as before.

I don't remember you selecting a file system before you quit installation so
probably nothing happened. I would run the windows 7 disk again and it will
repair the MBR and all will be well.

The thing is not to let windows in on your Debian installation, keep it in the
dark by using the Debian install image.
