Hi Andrei.

Firstly, thank you very much for your kind reply. Please accept my apologies
for taking to long to get back to you - I was unable to connect to the Net with
my other PC until now due to entirely unconnected other issues.

I checked the items you asked about: yes there is a /dev/cdrom which is
symlinked to /dev/sr0, and the fstab line read:

/dev/scd0 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0

I then altered the fstab as you suggested, to read:

/dev/cdrom /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0

I then restarted the apt-get dist-upgrade. This time, it was able to read the
CD first time and is now proceeding with the upgrade. :)))))))

It therefore seems as though you have hit the nail precisely on the head and
solved my problem at a stroke! Assuming it continues as well as it's going
right now, I should have as excellent a wheezy installation as my old squeeze.
:))

You guys are the best, and may I also say that I have previously used both
Fedora and Mandriva, and for in my humble but always outspoken opinion, Debian
is superior in every way.

Hopefully I won't need to trouble you again, but if you need anything from me
to investigate further, don't hesitate to let me know.

Best regards and thanks again,

Steve
