Just installed the proprietary nvidia driver on Wheezy 64-bit using the dkms method as outlined in the Nvidia Debian wiki. No problems, except I haven't got it working yet. But was wondering: Is it possible for the nvidia driver to work without using an xorg.conf? Nouveau does.
FYI: I'm not running a gui environment, just a window manager--Openbox. System first boots to a terminal, login, startx. Very minimal.
