You can find three other popular desktop environments in installer under advanced options/alternative desktop environments. If you want to try just window manager, probably easiest way is to install system without any desktop and then log in as root to install your wm with 'aptitude install icewm' (or whichever wm you have chosen, and any extras you might want).
