cuebreakpoints is part of cuetools package.

I would also use this method. Except I usually use bchunk to split the file, where you use shnsplit.

So that would be:

$ bchunk -w 1.bin 1.cue track.wav

Then of course I would encode the tracks, tag them, rename them.
