Since months this has been so, I mean, autologin in GDM3 has been, hum, how I could say, not broken but there was no place to set it and we had to manually edit the above file to enable it. And there's another thing I miss much: the notification area now is broken for many packages I tend to use, such as mail-notification and liferea. I hope these applications adhere to the new gnome-shell way soon. Anyway, there are many nice themes for the upcoming gnome-shell (>3.2) showing different layouts. But again, this 3.0 release provides little to nothing customization options unless you manually go and edit the required files. Upcoming versions of the shell will improve this a lot.
