Please try the "Recovery mode" from grub. Just hit the down arrow once to enter the 2nd option in Grub. The "Grub terminal" is required when Grub install has botched up something. If you get some scrolling messages, after BIOS POST, chances are that your graphics card has some problems. Is there a /var/logs/Xorg.0.log file? Any hints in there? -- Mahesh T.
