Uh? :-? Well... you have to understand what we are trying to get with that. The goal is to kill the X server (your X session) in order you can run "Xorg - configure" command. If killing gdm3 does not work, you can try by calling "init 1" ("init 1" is single-user mode with no graphical server) and run the command from there.
