Hello, Which backend do you use: the one provided by the official Debian libsane-extras package or the one from the Avasys proprietary packages (iscan, iscan-plugin-gt-s600)? I had similar problems with the V200 and solved by installing the Avasys packages. Which was a pain because they are in conflict with libsane-extras.
