I've got a couple of Devolo thingies (14Mbps - they're old) that work fine. They basically work as network repeaters, so a normal network card works fine with them. No special set-up required. > Any thoughts on security for these things? Ah :-) Since anybody on the same power line [*] can listen in, it should be treated similarly to an unsecured wireless network. My solution was to run openvpn on top. [*] This will only work when both transmitter and receiver are on the same phase. E.g. in the UK, electricity is normall 3-phase, and alternate houses on a road are given 2 of the 3 phases. So your neighbours are usually on different phases, which prevents them from listening in. Hope this helps -- Karl E.
