I am from the U.S., Hendrik, but I am with you on both counts. I
could certainly do with a few less invasions of other countries and
spending that time, effort, and money on improving things for the
citizens of our own country.
Ummm.... Like what? Our failed educational system? Are they going to
plow more money into that so they can teach more things such as: Johnny
will get his feelings hurt if he fails a grade because he didn't do the
work, so we will pass him along even though he isn't gaining the skills
he needs to compete in the real world?
Or, how about the US is the worst country in the world? It has fought,
gasp, wars, while failing to mention that we have poured money into
rebuilding every country we have defeated rather than acting as the
countries of Europe and exacting heavy tribute. You know, the very
cause of WWII. Yeah, the Socialist governments of Western Europe are
very peaceful, forgiving, and caring organizations. Just paragons of
virtue. If we hadn't bailed them out of two, that's right, two world
wars that they started, not a one of them, besides Germany would be
speaking their native languages today. They would all be speaking
German and not a Jew or Pole would be alive in Europe today. They would
have all been murdered.
And, if not for NATO, which we primarily funded and provided the
military technology, they would probably not free today either. Only
America's will, and ability to confront the Soviets militarily, kept
them free. But, we're just the scum of the earth for being who we are.
Ungrateful jerks. The only ones who have paid their WWII debts to us
are the Finns. All the rest have just taken their freedom and thumbed
their noses at us over the cost it took to get, and maintain, their own
freedom....
Oh, yeah. Go socialism. The government, and people, with a
conscience. NOT!!!!
That's not what you'll hear the socialist teachers in our schools
teaching though. They teach the revisionist history that we were wrong
to have gotten involved in any war we have ever entered, and are
imperialistic, in spite of the fact that we have never gone to war to
expand our borders, and that the vast majority of our wars have been
fought on the behalf of others.
Socialism just plain sucks.
