I'm not sure why this happens. Several people using make-kpkg have reported
being unable to apply the debianlogo patch to the 2.4.21 kernel. I tested
debianlogo with the 2.4.18 kernel, and I use it with the 2.4.20 kernel. I
haven't tried 2.4.21 (I probably won't; I'll wait until some of its problems
are ironed out).
