Please read below. > But debian-user is more than a mailing list. Not necessarily. I'm on a couple of other lists that are gated to USENET , as well as being on private company servers. Anyone can read/reply to the USENET postings, but they won't make it to the private server, until one registers there first. There is no reason it can't be done this way here. I should point out, that these other lists I'm talking about are for Graphic Designers -- If these non-conformists accept this, then I'm sure the new user to Debian can, and won't be access challenged. I understand the argument that Debian wishes to make getting and receiving help, as easy as possible. Having the requirement for one to register to the e-mail list first, is not mutually exclusive to the goal of Debian support being open to everyone/anywhere. What it shows is Debian acting responsible in helping prevent the proliferation of UCE and showing a proactive stance. -- Regards Stephen +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ It is a wise father that knows his own child. -- William Shakespeare, "The Merchant of Venice" +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
