I thought so, and I only did it after using my own version didn't seem to be enough. > Just make the version different (eg "custom.3"). As I said, I used --revision=3:pallas.2.1 (and --revision=pallas.2.1 before that). > | "apt-get install kernel-headers-2.4.18" insists that the installed > | 2.4.18-5 is the most recent one, and dselect also shows this > | version under "available". > > | Any idea why? I believe I did this correctly, because I can do an "apt-get --reinstall install" on my own packages, and because dselect shows these packages as available. I had installed other custom kernel packages before with dpkg without bothering about apt and then these were indeed "local/obsolete" packages. > You would need to make a directory laid out like the > pools on http.us.debian.org I haven't bothered to recreate the same directory structure, as the entry in Debian FAQ and various mails on this list point out that a flat directory is okay, too. Using dpkg directly instead of apt is less suitable for me, because these packages are to be installed on several machines where I need to do an "apt-get update; apt-get upgrade" anyway. Thanks for the reply, though. I hope I expressed myself more clearly now. (OT: and thanks for testing roundup - I haven't got enough time to do it myself, but want to use 0.4.2 as soon as it will be available) -- Freundliche Gruesse / Best Regards Patrick Ohly Software Engineer -------------------------------------------------------------------- //// pallas Pallas GmbH / Hermuelheimer Str. 10 / 50321 Bruehl / Germany [EMAIL PROTECTED] / www.pallas.com Tel +49-2232-1896-30 / Fax +49-2232-1896-29 -------------------------------------------------------------------- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
