ALSA 0.9.0rc1 doesn't have a snd-card-via686a module. The alsaconf
utility is outdated -- many modules have been renamed, etc. In your
case, it looks like the module has been renamed snd-via686. It
shouldn't be too hard to fix, though. Edit /etc/modutils/alsa. (Ignore
the "do not edit warning".) Look for a line that says:
alias snd-card-0 snd-card-via686a
and change it to
alias snd-card-0 snd-via686
Then run "/etc/init.d/alsa start" and see what happens. Hopefully they
didn't change the module parameters for your card too...
