It depends on the fonts that are used. Mostly, programs will use the default Gtk font, but there are some exceptions. > - Evolution: > When you use one of these chars in the "File as" field of a contact and > modifies any information of the contact in the place of the char many > special chars appears. I don't use Evolution myself, so I have no idea about this one. Sounds very strange, though. > - Gnumeric: > When I use these char in a cell, the content after and including this > char won't appear in the sheet, but it appears in the input box at the > top of the window. This depends on the font used to display the cell. It is set in the toolbar. Check that the font supports the ISO8859-1 charset (e.g., using the Gnome Font Selector. Helvetiva should work. I use ISO8859-15 myself, and I get this: Gdk-WARNING **: Missing charsets in FontSet creation Gdk-WARNING **: ISO8859-15 So you can check if you get something similar, when running gnucash from the command line. I have no problems displaying most characters, though. > - Gnucash: > I know it's not on woody, but i installed it anyway. But the problem is > similar to gnumeric's. You can set some fonts in Settings:Preferences, in the Register tab, but I haven't found where the report fonts are set. I have no trouble displaying the á etc there, just the euro symbol. -- Note that I use Debian version 3.0 Linux mus 2.4.17mvz2 #1 Wed Feb 27 17:41:43 CET 2002 i686 unknown Matijs
