Edit /etc/X11/XF86Config, and put the biggest resolution you want to use first in the list of resolutions under Section "Screen", Subsection "Display". If you switch to a lower resolution while in X, you'll still get that virtual desktop size. Just the way X is... -- Eric G. Miller <egm2@jps.net>
