3Com NICs are way overpriced. I've only seen them at $80+. I have a combination of LinkSys (tulip), Netgear (ISA, ne2k clone), and RealTek (8139) cards in the LAN at home and haven't had problems with any of them. (admittedly the realtek is in my dad's win98 box, but still, no problems) If you pay more than $10 or $20 for a 10/100 Mbps NIC you're getting ripped off, IMO. I also say that a $2500 system is too expensive. In a year or two the parts will all be outdated and you'll want a new one. If buy lower on the newness scale you can spend a lot less money, but still have enough performance for the machine to be comfortable to use. (if you're looking to buy a server for a business, then it's a different story and load becomes much more of an issue) -D -- If we claim we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar and His Word has no place in our lives.
