That said, most hardware 'drivers' are contained in the kernel source - the easiest way to add them is to configure your source to compile them as modules, then use 'make modules' and 'make modules_install' to build em.
Note - if the kernel source you are configuring matches the kernel you are running, you do not need to rebuild the entire kernel just to build a module. You do not even need to reboot to test - just make the module, and insmod it. I will also echo the advice to read the howtos at linuxdocs.org, your distros CD set, or another likely location - look at the howtos on kernels and modules too. aloha, dave
