Hi! after a couple of days fighting with the upgrading to woody from potato here are my advices if anyone wants to do the same. The advices from this list were of fundamental importance!
1) Upgrade to woody via apt 2) If your video card is supported, install XFree86 4 (shipped with woody) and the xserver-xfree86. 3) Reinstall xfonts-base (apt-get install --reinstall xfonts-base). The upgrading to woody mess up with the fonts directories. 4) Install the man pages and the xbase-clients (apt-get install man-deb manpages xbase-clients). The woody upgrading deinstall thesse packages, but doesn't reinstall them. 5) I like very much gnome and sawmill, so install sawmill-gnome and the gnome stuff. Note that sawmill-gnome has the gnome-control-center package for configuring the gnome desktop. 6) Reboot Cheers, Marcelo -- Marcelo Chiapparini DFT-IF/UERJ [EMAIL PROTECTED]
