My previous post was about multithreading sounds, and what was needed was to install esd. so i installed esd.
however, the problem still remains. running esd would lock /dev/dsp. i can't seem to make esd a background process that won't lock the sound device to any other process requesting for the use of the sound device. even in gnome (starting sound server at startup) it won't startup at all. any suggestions on how do i fix this? do i need to modify anything in /etc/esound/esd.conf? how do i make esd work? what configs do i need to make it start as a background process upon startup (do i need to make another startup script just for esd)? or do i need to upgrade the esound package altogether? or maybe i need to do something more (like check some file configs aside from /etc/esound/ esd.conf or something)? i'm using debian gnu/linux 2.2r3 (and the esound package that comes along with it). __________________________________ www.edsamail.com
