Some point you did not say I don't know for sure. Your hard driver geometry, is it over 1024 cylinder?
Your lilo.conf should like this boot=/dev/hda root=/dev/your_root # if over 1024 lba32 # must have option compact Check in BIOS, in the hard drive configuration, pls see if it has a features like OS2 OS or Win, DOS etc..
