The CMOS setting for PNP OS may be wrong. This only seemed to matter for PCI cards on my latest installation, a new motherboard with 2.2 Debian. The setting of "PNP OS" to NO gets the bios to initialize the bus/card. This tripped me up as "PNP OS" used to effect PNP ISA cards only. rob Live the dream.
