This is being reported fairly frequently, check archives. I've found that stopping and starting GDM, then restarting X, can resolve the issue. As I don't use gdm much (spend little time in console), I've simply removed it and set mouse to /dev/psaux in my X config file. Peace. -- Karsten M.
