This is my pick. I usually create "project" users for shared stuff, either one user per task, or per organized workgroup. There are things that are owned by the project, and this tends to work better in general than other approaches. Managers access this account via sudo. Files are managed under CVS or another versioning system. Not using version control is not an option. An alternative is to create a projects directory under /usr/local (*not* /usr), possibly symlinked to, and bypass the project-specific user approach. Problem is that this usually requires root access for various administrative tasks. Peace. -- Karsten M.
