Hi!

I configured one Debian box as an internet router for our local network,
but I've got a little problem with DNS. I installed bind 8.1x on this router
for handling DNS queries from all clients and created configuration files
as described in the DNS-HOWTO. Now it works, but it takes a long
time (about 10 or more seconds) till the clients get their answers to their
DNS queries. So, isn't there a simpler program just for DNS forwarding?
Because DNS works very fast on the internet router itself. Because it
always uses DNS servers from the actual ISP. If I try to ping what DNS
adress ever directly on the router, I immediately got the corresponding
IP adress. So, it would be perfect, if there's a program which simply
uses the local active adress resolution instead of communicating with
it's own DNS servers declared in some of it's config files.

Thanks in advance for help!

Christian
