First make sure that /usr/sbin is in your root's PATH. If not then. I would try installing the correct version of ldconfig using apt-get, if possible. apt-get --reinstall install ldconfig If that doesn't work, use 'apt-cache show ldconfig', to find the correct version and then got to debian.org and download the ldconfig package and then install it with dpkg.
