If by "homedirectory" you mean my configuration space on the
win2000 system, yes I can, but there are two complications that
make that not so usefull.  The first is that there are spaces in
the directory name, so cygwin can't handle it.  The second is
that I'd have to do it separately on every machine as they are
set up so that they don't share configuration. 

I think that the most likely to succeed thing for me will be to
lobby the security folks to add ssh and friends to the "campus
standard" communications software kit.  Then it would someday RSN
propagate to all of the campus machines.
