I have a potato system, upgraded to r3, but not yet replaced the kernel. I'd like to compile a 2.2.19 kernel. Being on a slow modem connection I don't want to download the whole source but got patch-2.2.18.bz2 and patch-2.2.19.bz2. I'm not clear how to apply this patches without messing up with the apt-get database. How do I proceed?
