As a computer tech I've seen a lot of latest Intel chips dead when the exhaust fan died on a certain brand computer(well known). And the heatsink was big. They didn't last too long.I've seen Celerons dead or GPF'ing due to same reason(fans that barely spinned).AMD chips are also pretty bad about it. So my take will be a no no.Any chip that's not properly cooled will plain become unreliable after a short while and eventually won't boot anymore in the best case scenario.I've seen the worst case as well, when copmuters simply caught fire.I'd put up with the noise from the fans.
