A PII with a gargantuan heat sink ... _maybe_, a PIII no way! You might be able to run a machine for about a year under such conditions that you describe, but by letting the processor run so hot you are definately prematurely aging it, speeding up electromigration and whatnot. It wouldn't surprise me if you would be plauged by spontaneous reboots and data corruption as well. If you need a PIII that will run without a fan, you really need to look at a laptop.
