I had potato with k 2.2.18. I compiled k2.4.1. I compiled modutils 2.4.1 also. Then I did make install modules. Even then I get some modprobe errors. I have lines kernel symbols match and loaded in the first few lines of /var/log/messages. What can be the reason? I have I810 chipset machine. Even with kernel 2.4.1 and agpgart compiled in kernel and XFCom_i810 driver and also XF86_SVGA driver also I couldn't get my X working normally. In messages I saw agpgart is invoked and i810 chipset is recognised. I have RH6.2 k2.2.16 in the same machine X works oK.
