Make sure that you are in the cdrom group. I also had a problem where I was in the cdrom group but not in the disk group. Since /dev/cdrom was a link to /dev/hdc which was in the disk group, I couldn't access the cdrom. So if you are still having problems, add yourself to the disk group. Anthony
