This service is provided by `portmap'. Remove `/etc/rc?.d/S18portmap' to stop it from being started, but note that any RPC servers that are invoked will more than likely refuse to start or just simply crash. -- Olaf Meeuwissen Epson Kowa Corporation, Research and Development
