"Linux" is based on "Minix", and Linus' name (which is not pronounced
LIE-nus, but the finnish LEE-noos). You really have two options. You can
call it LIN-niks, based on "Minix", or you can call it LEE-nooks, like
Linus pronounces it. LYE-nucks is totally unfounded (you just don't
pronounce his name that way).
