HTH Just out of curiousity, i checked the /etc/init.d/network file on my potato box, even though all networking works fine. Turns out the ip address, gateway, and everything in there was incorrect (it had been correct 10 months ago when i installed it). Didn't make any difference here anyway, since i use dhcp to get my ethernet ip address (as opposed to the ppp ip address when the box isn't on the ethernet). I'm not sure why connections would work with ip addresses any better than names if no gateway was specified... Still, has anyone checked the routing table (/sbin/route) when it's working and not working? - -- finger for PGP public key. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 2.6.3ia Charset: noconv iQCVAwUBN//1Z77M/9WKZLW5AQEfSwP/Z81D9pZyCzfh8oZ2Y5W9Q3Lk877tyIIP gF0nH9q0ov9NKq8duEpjQ9WsydYIWKMS8phYlQfhUxSXVRndkMHD8HyUyk3jh8Rk c7lTD9a4Zhxfp/d5gmw1jK3x94PqRjIT2PHcngQJptzgKKdi02KzjPW/FytpZ5dl RX8/VJFsciI= =y4Qr -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
