I've solved this problem. I did an "apt-get -f install less" which in the process of installing the slink-less, upgraded the system to libc6. Then I used dpkg to install the potato version of apt. Now I am trying to do an apt-get upgrade of the system to slink. But I get the following error: WARNING: The following essential packages will be removed This should NOT be done unless you know exactly what you are doing! getty 235 packages upgraded, 53 newly installed, 44 to remove and 1 not upgraded. Need to get 57.3Mb/105Mb of archives. After unpacking 106Mb will be used. You are about to do something potentially harmful To continue type in the phrase 'Yes, I understand this is bad' ?] So what is to be done with the getty package? Thanks, Mark. _/~~~~~~~~\___/~~~~~~\____________________________________________________ ____/~~\_____/~~\__/~~\__________________________Mark_Phillips____________ ____/~~\_____/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ____/~~\HE___/~~\__/~~\APTAIN_____________________________________________ ____/~~\______/~~~~~~\____________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________ "They told me I was gullible ... and I believed them!"
