I'm not sure whether this will work. The system is currently a libc5 "bo" system. I want it to become a "slink" system. I can't just use dpkg to install the potato version of apt, because it's a libc6 version. I would need to install potato-apt using apt. In the process apt would presumably upgrade the system (correctly) to libc6. But it would be a "potato" upgrade. How would I then downgrade back to slink? --- my ultimate goal.
