A bo -> hamm upgrade can't keep your existing ppp config files because the
new ppp uses a completely different configuration.  If you have a standard
Debian-style /etc/ppp.chatscript and /etc/ppp.options_out setup the ppp
postinst script will convert it, usually successfully.
