You can put this in your startup scripts somewhere: loadkeys <<EOF alt shift keycode 51 = Meta_less alt shift keycode 52 = Meta_greater EOF This should fix the M-< and M-> keys. I never bothered to fix the other missing Meta functions, because I don't use them very often (nor do I use the console very often). Distributions ought to be repaired so all meaningful Meta key sequences work at the console, I think.
