Hi:
Can anyone point me in the right direction
here.
I was accustomed to the debian Woody package
installer wherein I mounted a proprietary CD with a { ****.deb }
file on it and then issuing the command: #dpkg -i
/cdrom/****.deb
And it did the trick.
I just upgraded to debian "Sarge" and tried the
same thing and it failed. Apparently, the new system wants me to use a
combination of "apt" and "dselect" specifying parameters that I apparently don't
fully understand.
Question: given my proposed scenario above,
what exact steps do I perform to get the installer to recognize the ".deb" file
on my CD (not an official debian distro CD, but one from a proprietary
application, debian compatible).?
Thank you,
Jeff Goodwin
