Not the way I set it up, but it's possible to do it. Take a look at hotplug. There is an event every time you plug in and take out an usb device (oncee when you insert the device, and once when you take it out). I would think it would be possible to set in a script to do what you want (changing X and possibly gpm). I really can't help you there, because I've never tried it. -- John L.
