Ok, so libmikmod2 is uninstalled, for whatever reason. Run
"apt-get install libmikmod2" as root and then restart xmms to see if it
works again.

Well, I just snapped, and tried to install it about 1 hour ago. it 
segfaulted. So i went to take a nap, and then i switched my sources list 
to unstable and tried installing again. and now everything works. So, 
many thanks to all who helped; its a lesson that i won't forget. I might 
just upgrade the whole system to unstable... Any major things broken 
that might give me a reason not to?
