Just do it. :-) Hopefully on a second box, so that you can keep one running while getting the hang of Debian, just install it. Learn by doing. But before posting questions to this list, most list members would encourage you to do your own googling and reading and searching the Debian Mailing list archives for answers, like you've been doing. So reading is good, but getting your hands dirty is better. Since it's a second box, you can always wipe it and start over (several times!), which will do you even better than a one-time install.
