Used boot floppies from sid. (kernel 2.4.22-1-i386) Installation seemed to go fine, it had detected the hardware fine (other than network, see below), downloaded stuff from whatever default mirror was configured, everything was good until it started trying to run cfdisk, then it threw an error about cannot open disk, press any key to exit, and looped back to the same error every time I hit a key. (checking ps aux in the shell it seemed like one of the postinst scripts was continually running cfdisk) running cfdisk from the shell produced the same error. (but no loop). Running cfdisk from the shell with a parameter of the path to the ide disk (/dev/discs/disc0/disc) brought up what I expected to see (the partition table of the disk so I could partion it). Notes about the network: Since the boot images + network image did not have support for rtl8150.o I copied it manually via a floppy using the shell, modprobed it, then returned to the installer menu and continued. --------------------------------------- Received: (at 220160-done) by bugs.debian.org; 11 Nov 2003 10:51:34 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Nov 11 04:51:16 2003 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from ms-2.rz.rwth-aachen.de (ms-dienst.rz.rwth-aachen.de) [134.130.3.131] by master.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1AJW7A-0000GI-01; Tue, 11 Nov 2003 04:51:16 -0600 Received: from r220-1 (r220-1.rz.RWTH-Aachen.DE [134.130.3.31]) by ms-dienst.rz.rwth-aachen.de (iPlanet Messaging Server 5.2 HotFix 1.12 (built Feb 13 2003)) with ESMTP id <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> for [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Tue, 11 Nov 2003 11:50:02 +0100 (MET) Received: from relay.RWTH-Aachen.DE ([134.130.3.1]) by r220-1 (MailMonitor for SMTP v1.2.2 ) ; Tue, 11 Nov 2003 11:50:01 +0100 (MET) Received: from mx.mmweg.rwth-aachen.de (mx.mmweg.RWTH-Aachen.DE [134.130.118.4]) by relay.rwth-aachen.de (8.12.10/8.12.7-1) with SMTP id hABAo1sU028853 for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Tue, 11 Nov 2003 11:50:01 +0100 (MET) Received: (qmail 27785 invoked by alias); Tue, 11 Nov 2003 10:50:01 +0000 Received: (qmail 27777 invoked from network); Tue, 11 Nov 2003 10:50:01 +0000 Received: from coyote.mmweg (134.130.118.117) by hub.mmweg with SMTP; Tue, 11 Nov 2003 10:50:01 +0000 Date: Tue, 11 Nov 2003 11:50:00 +0100 From: Sebastian Ley <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Fixed in hw-detect To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message-id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> MIME-version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Ximian Evolution 1.4.5 Content-type: text/plain Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-1.5 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_01 version=2.53-bugs.debian.org_2003_11_9 X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.53-bugs.debian.org_2003_11_9 (1.174.2.15-2003-03-30-exp) I believe the bug was fixed with a recent upload of hw-detect. It should be fixed in the daily builds and in the next beta.
