Hi,

Could somebody help me a little with the version-numbering schema used
by debian since i don't
understand it anymore.

In DSA-122 people were advised to upgrade zlib1g to
zlib1g_1.1.3-5.1_i386.deb.

As i understand from the 'Debian Policy Manual' chapter 4 (version
numbering), the epoch is used
to get rid of screwed up numbering schemes. It may be omitted, in which
case zero is assumed.
So version 1.1.3-5.1 is actually the same as 0:1.1.3-5.1.
But on security.debian.org i find version 1:1.1.3-5.1 .. the same
upstream_version-debian_version but
a different epoch.

Kind regards,
Michael Devogelaere.
