You mean something like this:

Network A is talking through the Sparc-gateway and the Intel-gateway
to network B. The traffic between the two gateways is secured by
IPsec.
Is this what you want?
You will need two NICs in the Sparc as well.

I dont know anything about "COTS Gauntlet" but like I said: The
protocols for IPsec are well defined. If an implementation follows the
standards it should work.
